
The New York Association for Continuing/Community Education (NYACCE) held its 62nd Annual Teacher Recognition Ceremony at its conference on May 6, 2013.
Mary Lou Brown, Greece Community Education; Joan Graves, Rochester Educational Opportunity Center; and Sue Stobie, Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES were among 12 teachers recognized for the outstanding contributions they make to the field of adult education. They represent the hundreds of dedicated colleagues throughout our state who make a difference to their adult learners and their communities.

Teachers and administrators from nine adult literacy programs in this region have been participating in the Adult Numeracy Instruction – Professional Development training (ANI-PD). Offered by the Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS), this is an intensive evidence-based program in effective numeracy instruction for adults.
The TV spots tell the public about the current GED® exam ending on December 31, 2013. To help students prepare to take this free exam, they end with a slate of resources provided by ACCES/NYSED and NYS Public Broadcasting to get them started. Those resources include links to GED® Testing Centers, GED® Preparation programs and http://www.fastforwardny.org/ Kentucky Educational Television produced the main core spots while WXXI provided the NY State customization and voice over for NY state messaging.
